Joy for everyone using Gmail account for Windows 10 as Microsoft has announced new expanded features to enrich their experience. The company has added support for Focused Inbox in the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar app.
Focused Inbox, a newly added support for Gmail, is a feature that uses machine intelligence to guess which messages are important before placing them under a “Focused” tab in an account box, reports Digitaltrends. On the contrary, emails considered less-important are placed separately in a place called “Other” tab—giving you time to focus on mails that are important.
Machine learning as you may have discovered before now, is becoming the toast of every tech giant, and is no surprise that it has become a part of Gmail accounts for Windows 10. Microsoft is also adding support for faster and better search, and the ability to track travel and package information all within the app.
Until now, support for tracking travel and shipping deliveries were only available to Windows 10 Mail & Calendar apps for users with Outlook.com accounts. With this update, Gmail account users can now easily track their favorite events, sports, and carry out faster search. “We’re now excited to bring these features to our users with Gmail accounts, so you can enjoy the best of what Windows 10 Mail & Calendar have to offer.”
The rollout is gradual as Microsoft said it still needs feedback from users to enable it conclude work on the new features. However, Gmail users are in for happy times ahead as Focused Inbox is one that will improve their experience as they use the app.
Here is what Vivek Kumar Product Marketing Manager, Windows 10 Mail & Calendar apps wrote in a blog post about the new feature:
“We’ll roll out the improved experience gradually to users with Gmail accounts in the Windows Insiders program over the next several weeks. We’d love for you to provide feedback on the experience in this phase. After we’ve incorporated your feedback, we’ll proceed to roll out the updates to all Windows 10 users.”
However, all [faster search, Focused Inbox, and travel and tracking features] are now available to all Mail & Calendar users who are part of the Windows Insider program. Since the rollout is gradual, not all Insiders will be able to experience the new features on their Gmail account immediately.
How do I know when the features are available for me to start using? Microsoft will prompt you to install an update via your email account settings. In case you miss the prompt, Microsoft will again prompt you to install it in a couple of weeks after the initial message.
The goal here is to make every Microsoft user more productive and efficient. Besides, it will make the app more interesting to use as users will now have time for more productive things instead of trying to read every email that comes into their inbox.
