Microsoft Pays 250 Million to Nokia / Image via Flickr
Microsoft has paid the amount of $ 250 million to Nokia to adopt the software giant’s operating system Windows Phone 7 for the new series of Lumia smartphones. We are talking about the agreement reached last year between the two companies while Nokia was having big sales problems because they did not have a powerful operating system. The Finnish company needed an operating system already designed for mobile platforms, but also with some reputation.
Microsoft has decided to “help”, thinking that will get several million customers from this business, so they paid the amount mentioned above to Nokia. Thus, the Redmond giant ensured that one of the largest manufacturers of mobile phones will use its operating system and not the Google’s Android.
Even if both sides were quite secretive about financial details, this information was offered yesterday by communicating the results recorded in Q4 by the company. Nokia also pays to Microsoft a percentage of the profit, probably from the software elements of the giant introduced on the Nokia smartphones.
