Man Uses Facebook To Find Kidney Donor

A man has from Massachusetts is getting a life-saving kidney transplant from a woman from California who he connected with through Facebook.

According to the Boston Globe, Eddie Beatrice suffered from septic shock which decimated both his kidneys after an infection in 2011.

Every week, he now has to go three times to the hospital to get dialysis treatment but what he really needs is a kidney transplant.

Initially, his siblings were tested for a possible donation but both turned out not compatible with Beatrice. He had to wait on a transplant list which could take up to years for his turn.

By New Year’s Day, he found the Living Kidney Donors Network Page on Facebook. On it, he would find a Kelly Wright of California who will save his life.

Wright, 44, posted on the page that she wanted to donate a kidney to a stranger.

Upon seeing the post, Beatrice contacted the woman saying “I would love to be considered as a recipient to receive your kidney.”

The rest, as they say, is history.

Beatrice and Wright are now close friends who consider themselves family, the Globe reports.

From a connection made through Facebook, Wright will donate her kidney to Beatrice in an operation scheduled for April 2.
