LinkedIn’s Find A Service Provider feature—another Fiverr?

LinkedIn wants to replicate the Fiverr success story by launching a new feature called “Find a Service Provider,” reliable tipster Jane Manchun Wong tweeted on a Twitter page on Tuesday. The feature, which is located in a user’s post composer, works almost in similar way as Fiverr—a renowned platform where buyers and sellers meet to buy and sell professional services online.

If launched [ it is still subject to other conditions though], it could give other similar online platforms that provide professional services like Fiverr a run for their money considering LinkedIn’s huge user base. However, we have not heard anything official from the professional social media platform, but one could safely conclude that it could turn LinkedIn into one big marketplace where buyers and sellers of professional services meet.

LinkedIn as you already know, is known for creating the enabling environment where career people meet to enhance their potentials. With “Find a Service Provider,” things could take a more robust shape, and LinkedIn could attract millions of professionals [including buyers and sellers] to its platform every day.

What, however, is not clear at this time is whether or not the Microsoft-owned professional social networking group plans to take a cut from every transaction completed/carried out within and on its platform.

Providing a unique platform where professionals from all works of life meet to offer their professional services in exchange for a small fee will not be a new thing; however, LinkedIn will be opening up new opportunities for people to explore just like Fiverr and the likes.

LinkedIn recently launched features that simplify the process of finding yourself a new job. As a matter of fact, LinkedIn rolled out more than one feature—all geared towards positioning you for the job you truly desire.

Some of these new tools include:

Instant Job Notifications: This feature keeps you all to date with all the latest openings via instant notifications. It is a new mobile push notification, but works only when you have told LinkedIn what you are actively looking for as soon as new jobs have been posted. As a matter of fact, you can get notification as soon as a new job is being posted on the platform. To sign up for instant job notifications, simply go to your career interests dashboard, and be sure to turn on your mobile notifications.

Job Title Highlights: Understanding the skills and qualifications for a specific job is important because it helps you prepare ahead. The feature is designed to ensure you are not caught off guard when searching for a job. When next you search for a job on LinkedIn, you will be presented with a new module outlining the following: top skills people with that title have, top companies hiring for that role, and first degree connections with that job title.
