Apple will likely officially launch the much-awaited iPhone 5 in India on Thursday, October 26, a new rumor suggests.
According to BGR India, unnamed “multiple sources have confirmed” that Apple is getting ready “to launch the iPhone 5 in India on the last Friday of this month, which happens to be October 26.”
The publication says that Apple will not be partnering with mobile carriers to launch the iPhone 5 in India.
BGR India says that Apple will handle the sales of the iPhone 5 in India itself.
The site’s sources have told them that the iPhone 5 in India will be priced “closer to the launch price of the iPhone 4S”.
At this time, there is no definite news about how many iPhone 5 units will be initially available in the country as Apple is having a shortage of its popular smartphone worldwide, the site says.
The iPhone 5 was launched by Apple on September 12.
