Taking a page out of its strategy book from last year, Apple has priced the iPhone 5 at the same price points it offered the iPhone 4S when the older device was launched.
Apple will sell its latest phone at the following price with new two-year contracts with wireless carriers in the US:
16GB iPhone 5 – $199
32GB iPhone 5 – $299
64GB iPhone 5 – $399
At its launch of the latest smartphone which Apple described as “the most beautiful product we’ve ever made,” the iPhone 3GS was notably out of the mix.
As a result, the iPhone 4 is now the Apple smartphone which will come for free with new carrier contracts.
That model is only an 8GB model though. Remember that the iPhone – all models to be exact – does not have a slot for external memory.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 4S (16GB) will now only cost $99 with new contracts.
The new lineup of Apple smartphones should be able to work on both GSM and CDMA networks worldwide.
