What is reportedly the display of the upcoming iPad 3 has popped up in a report pointing that the new tablet from the guys from Cupertino may feature a “Retina Display”.
The photo comes to us by way of MacRumors which has recently reported that they have obtained a photo of what the site believes to be the display panel going into the iPad 3.
The publication writes that it has “been able to obtain one of these iPad 3 displays and examine it under a microscope in an effort to determine whether it is indeed an ultra-high resolution Retina display.”
According to MacRumors, there’s no change physically to the purported iPad 3 display when compared to the 9.7-inch of its iPad 2 bretheren.
It is “the same size as the current iPad 1 and iPad 2 display at 9.7″ in diagonal, and looks quite similar to the naked eye,” the site says.
However, when the publication highlighted a cluster of 4 pixels from the display, it seemingly revealed the resolution of what is believed to be the screen for the iPad 3.
“We highlighted a cluster of 4 pixels (2×2) from the iPad 2 to compare it to the same area on the iPad 3. On the iPad 3, the same cluster was occupied by 16 pixels (4×4) — exactly twice the resolution in each direction,” the site says.
Rumors earlier have pointed out that the iPad 3 may have a high-resolution “Retina Display” panel with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels.
