Instagram is one of the most innovative picture sharing apps available. The Facebook-owned ephemeral app has not only come of age since it became a part of Facebook, it has held its own even in the face of stiff competition from Snapchat. It had since added cool features like livestreaming, Stories, filters, and many more. Not done with keeping its users happy, Instagram has once again added a new feature that will enable you follow hashtags instead of popular posts.
Instagram started testing the feature last month when only a handful of people were able to access it. The feature has now been rolled out to a global audience.
“Every day, millions of people share photos and videos and tag them with relevant hashtags. #onthetable, #slime and #floralnails are just a few examples of hashtags that represent the many interests and passions of our community. To make these posts even more discoverable, we’re introducing hashtags you can follow,” Instagram said.
Here’s how to follow a hashtag: search a topic that interests you or tap on a hashtag from any post. You will see different hashtags displayed in your search result along with related accounts. When you do find one that interests you, open the hashtag page and tap on the follow button—and that’s it! You will start seeing top posts from that hashtag in your feed and some of the latest stories in your stories bar—and of course, you can always unfollow a hashtag at any time.
In case you need a helping hand on how to find hashtags to follow, simply check out the hashtags being followed by other people in their profiles. Your privacy has also been taken into account by Instagram. The company says the hashtags you follow will only be visible to your followers; but you will first have to set your account to private.
The new tool will be very helpful to new users, especially when it comes to finding new accounts to follow. The Instagram user-base is about to experience a massive rise considering how easy it’s now going to be for new users to connect to other users.
Weeks back, Instagram announced a new feature that enhances live video broadcast. The new feature, according to Instagram, will allow you to add guests when going live on Instagram. The addition followed a recent test Instagram carried out a few months ago.
Going forward, you can now invite another person to join your live broadcast from your device. You will be able to add people who are watching any live video you are streaming at the moment by simply clicking the “add” button in the corner of your screen. Once a friend is added, he or she will join you in a separate window below your screen. You can only add one guest at a time, but can replace one guest with another.
Time to go get some more followers by using the new Instagram hashtag tool! Why not share your thoughts with us if you have a thing or two to add to this story?
