Huawei has teamed up with O2 to offer two new low-cost handsets from the Chinese phone maker in the UK.
The UK mobile operator will sell the Huawei Ascend Y 100 and the G 7105 from June 1 and May 11 with price tags of £79.99 and £39.99, respectively, on pay as you go.
Based on its pricing details, the Ascend Y 100 is the higher end smartphone, which features a 2.8-inch capacitive display, preinstalled Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile OS from Google, a standard 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity and personalized back covers that will cost an extra £19.99.
Pitched as a featurephone, the Ascend G 7105 features a 2.8-inch LCD touchscreen, a 1.3-megapixel camera and up to 4GB of expandable internal storage; however, it comes without embedded HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity.
“We are delighted O2 UK is backing Huawei’s emerging portfolio and brand with [the] launch of the Huawei Ascend Y 100,” said Mark Mitchinson, EVP of Huawei UK.
The recent barrage of handset launches in the UK follows Huawei’s ramped up effort to become one of the top phone makers in the country.
