HTC has apparently decided that it will not include Beats headphones with its smartphones in the foreseeable future, a new report says.
The information comes from HTC’s Martin Fichter who told CNet in an interview that HTC will not include Beats headsets in its future smartphone packages.
“An accessory like the headphone doesn’t factor in when someone is buying a smartphone. If they want a Beats headphone, they’ll buy it directly,” Fichter is quoted by CNet as saying.
This news comes despite the fact that HTC is a major stakeholder in Beats Audio, the company which makes Beats headphones which are heavily endorsed by well-known media personalities.
As a result, the HTC Rezound which was unveiled November last year will likely be the last HTC smartphone to pack a pair of premium Beats headphones with it.
This also means that the HTC EVO 4G LTE, which was recently announced by Sprint for its network (although Sprint is yet to rollout a 4G LTE network), will not have a pair of Beats headphones with it.
Nonetheless, Fichter did not rule out HTC deciding to include Beats headphones with its smartphones in the future so maybe HTC will someday resume selling smartphones with bundled Beats headphones.
