More and more politicians use social media to reach out to potential voters.
While the use of social media is commonplace for the younger generation, even veteran politicians are jumping the social media bandwagon right now.
Indeed, social media can be a powerful tool for the modern politician. Connecting with voters on an individual basis is so important, and with social networking sites, a politician doesn’t have to organize a door-to-door neighborhood campaign to achieve that connection.

On the other hand, failing to use social media property can backlash against a politician’s best interests. For new politicians, here are some important tips:
Personalize
Avoid being nonspecific about your social media profile. It is a place where your voters can know more about you in a virtual environment. It should talk about your standpoints regarding political issues.
Moreover, your profile should list attention-grabbing info about yourself, your complete contact details and your most recent photo. All of this will lead to getting more respect from people.
Be active
Once you’ve committed yourself to using Twitter, for example, don’t be active and all of a sudden disappear. You should give time for your social media engagements each day. You should understand that conversations are happening on a daily basis. Respond to questions and comments as soon as possible.
Don’t Scream
You are using social media to connect individually to people. Don’t use it as a platform for screaming out your message. Furthermore, don’t brag about your achievements in Twitter or other social site. Do this in press releases instead.
Be helpful
In social media, you have a wide audience. Use this to help your viewers, for example, by providing thoughtful retweets. You can never go wrong when you help.
Anticipate discussion
Always be ready to start a conversation when you post or tweet. Don’t start a conversation in a social media platform if you don’t want to.
Be accountable for mistakes
If you make mistakes by tweeting undesirable photos are making absurd tweets, don’t be quick to put the blame on hackers. Moreover, don’t make the same mistakes again by learning how to properly use your smart phones or computers.
