Here’s How Marketers Can Write Good Content for the Internet

Blogging is not something that is exclusive to story writers or people who just have “thoughts” anymore. Budding entrepreneurs and even big time businesses invest in blogging because it is what reaches people. Some of these companies even go as far as doing a to see if they could have a website that is solely for blogging.

So what they do is they write content, share it on their social media accounts, and hope against hope that it does the job. More of than not, it does reach their target market; on rare occasions, their content just misses the point of blogging.

The problem lies in assuming that just because you have a blog means that you can just write anything you want. Even personal bloggers have a goal in mind that they want to achieve per post that they publish. And if you are an entrepreneur who would like to get a slice of that online attention some companies are getting, you need to make sure that you have a clear objective for every post that you write.

In digital marketing, if you do not know how to write well, you are going to have major problems. Not only are you not going to rank well on search engines or get good traction from your own audience; but you are not going to rake in new clients. This article will talk about why you need to refine your writing skills if you want to market and make it online.

Get a clear idea of what you want to say

A lot of people can write (or at least thinks they can write), but most of them do not really know how to do it well. This is not some snobbish statement, go on and browse through articles today, choose blogs that have been doing this for a long time and new companies who are just dabbling in digital marketing. Compare them with each other and you will notice a stark difference between the two.

One has a clear cut way of telling a story or sharing relevant information, while still selling you the product. While the other one is obviously just doing it to use a keyword and rank.

The important thing you need to remember about pushing content on the Internet is that it has to be written well. You are already a marketer, you know your product’s features and advantages, so invest in crafting a story content or an actual narrative so that you can convey a clearer picture to your audience and show them why your product is better than everyone else’s.

Know how your audience talks

Blog articles are not supposed to be stiff, it has to be conversational. The reason behind this is if people want to read a too-serious-article, they would have gone to websites like Time, Forbes, The Atlantic, and all the other editorial sites. Remember that if there is one thing we all share with everyone in the world, we do not like it when people are selling us something. So make it exciting for people to read by writing in their conversational tone.

Say no to information overload

Ideas can be summarized in bullets, make sure you do that. You do not have to write full paragraphs per point that you make, turn it into a list; it is easier to digest.

Writing is not something you can teach, mainly because people have different styles of writing, just as much as there are different styles of reading. But writing can be learnt, especially writing for the Internet. So keep these three important points in mind and write excellent content online.

I work as an IT consultant in the Toronto area and I love to write blogs about a variety of subjects. My passion for writing stems from the desire that everyone should have access to meaningful information. Whether it is a blog about society, culture, technology, or social media, I don’t want to miss the opportunity of sharing my thoughts with my friends and audience. Since I believe in mutual exchange of ideas, I am always on the lookout for a feedback on my writings.
