Rumors about Half-Life 3, the next installment in the popular Half-Life game series, are now on full blast again after a listing of the sci-fi first-person shooter video game was seen in a Gamescom 2012 event document.
T3 magazine found the listing in the Gamescom exhibitor list (PDF), which is still available on the site and actually lists Half-Life 3 but with a warning message. However, the German text atop the listing roughly reads in English as a cautionary note that has no obligation for its contents and sources, whereas a second note on the Gamescom web site says listed game launches are “expected”.
Even so, Half-Life 3 appears on the list as a product from Valve Corporation, the official game software house of the franchise. The company has yet to announce officially its upcoming release, but history dictates that the rumors and listing are true since Valve remained tight-lipped about the development of Half-Life 2 as well.
With the first two installments certified bestsellers, it’s hard not to think that Valve Corporation has something up its sleeves.
Gamescom 2012 will start this week at Cologne, Germany, where questions about Half-Life 3 could be answered.

GamesCom staff and Valve have called the listing a mistake.

It would be awesome if they did announce it though, I mean seriously its about time.
Another letdown from Valve. Sheesh!
Anyway, thanks for the heads up, Alex. Appreciate it.
