Heading out on a date, but don’t know what to put on? Don’t worry because Google’s search engine got you covered. The search engine is already making life better for a lot of people—and it won’t stop anytime soon. On Tuesday, the search engine giant added a new fashion experience called Shop the Look. Shop the Look will make it easier to find the best outfit that suits a particular outing.
“Last week, we launched a unique Fashion Week experiment which enables people to explore the world of fashion and shop products directly from curated, inspirational images on google.com. This week we are rolling out a new apparel and home decor experience for our retail advertisers called shop the look,” Google announced in a blog post.
Shop the Look is coming on the heels of last week’s launch of Google Fashion Week experiment that allows fashionista to “explore the world of fashion and shop products directly from curated, inspirational images on google.com.” Tuesday’s rollout is aimed at retail advertisers, and will help improve their shopping experience.
So how does it work?
In a nutshell, the new shopping experience on Google will show the image of a popular fashion blogger once a search containing certain a keyword has been entered. In the example provided by Google, a search keyword such as “cocktail attire” could show an image of a popular fashion blogger putting on a black cocktail dress, heels, and sunglasses” just to aid your choice.
“You can shop those exact (or visually similar) products featured in the image by tapping through and exploring the relevant products shown in the form of Shopping ads. As with standard Shopping ads, retailers will be charged on a cost-per-click basis, and all impressions and clicks will be reported within existing Shopping campaigns.”
Google has partnered with some “trusted partners” such as LIKEtoKNOW.it., Polyvore and Curalate to bring images you will be seeing when you search for what to wear using its search engine. Images will also be sourced from respected fashion bloggers, retailers, and publishers.
We’re currently testing the shop the look experience in the US on mobile devices. If you’re a retailer and interested in showing your products within the shop the look experience, create a Shopping campaign and ensure you optimize your bids to show on mobile.
If you live outside the US, then you won’t be able to use Shop the Look as the shopping experience is currently limited to mobile users within the country.
Retailers interested in showing their products within the Shop the Look experience can set up a Shopping campaign here. All bids must, however, be optimized to show on mobile.
In May 2015, Google added an option where users can order for their favorite foods right from its search page. Users will find “Place an Order” option at the bottom of the cards where they can tap the option and choose a delivery service from the available ones. Also in November 2015, the company started experimenting a new search feature that allowed you to use an app without having to download it to your phone.
