iPhone X users got a Christmas present from Google on Tuesday as the tech giant updated Hangouts for iOS with support for the device. A lot of the iPhone X users that have been clamoring for this can now realize their dream as the app is now available for download on iTunes.

The update is so important because it means the Hangouts app is now properly fitted to the screen of the iPhone X. You will no longer see those black bars along the top and bottom of the app—the app has now been optimized to fit perfectly into the screen, per 9to5google.

Hangouts is not the first app from Google to be updated to suit or fit perfectly with the new iPhone X—other apps from the company have been receiving some updates too. Google Play Music is one of such apps, and more will of course, follow in the same line in weeks to come.

Like Hangouts, Google Play Music will now take advantage of the iPhone X’s 5.8-inch OLED display. Along with the Google Play Music update, Maps for iOS, Docs, and Gmail.

Last November Google solved an issue in its YouTube app for the iPhone X that always led to battery drain. The bug led to excessive battery drain even when the YouTube app was idle in the background. Some users also complained that their device temperature became high because of the bug.

The issue might have been caused by the version of the app; with users using versions 12.42 and 12.43 seriously affected by the issue. What made it so obvious that it was the version and nothing else is the fact that it affected all iOS devices. So, it was not a case that had to do with upgrading to the latest version of iOS.

For those not familiar with Hangouts on iOS, here are some of the features you can find on the app:

  • Turn any conversation into a free group video call with up to 10 friends.
  • Add all your friends with group chats for up to 150 people.
  • Manage mobile app remotely with Google Cloud.
  • Say more with status messages, photos, emoji, stickers, and animated GIFs.
  • Message all Message friends anytime, even if they’re offline.
  • Connect your Google Voice account for phone number, SMS, and voicemail integration.
  • Turn any conversation into a free group video call with up to 10 friends.
  • Call any phone number in the world (and all calls to other Hangouts users are free!).
  • Easily share your current location to any conversation with Maps integration.

Drop your comments and let us know how the new UI fits in to your iPhone X.
