Google Podcast is gradually adding those features it promised us when it first launched last June. Just last September, the highly-customizable podcast app added Cast support in a highly-anticipated updated. To make the app even more attractive to users, Google is now adding the ability to share shows and episodes directly in the latest update.

Sharing was not only limited to podcast publishers with Google creating a tool to generate a direct link where a feed URL can be entered. This seriously hampered the growth of the app as many podcasters and users alike preferred other apps that gave them more advanced options.

According to 9to5google, the new share button can be found in the overflow icon of the Android version of the app. In the top-right corner of a podcast or specific episode, you will find a new Share button that can now be used as intended. The Share button, which was added a couple of weeks ago, opens the share sheet to copy link, send directly to other apps, or via Direct Share contact.

While generated URL works best on mobile, generated links can also work fine on desktop or iOS as users can still manually search and find the episode.

Google added Cast support to Podcast last September to allow users Cast to supported devices like Google Home or Chromecast. This solved a lot of issues, especially as you will no longer be required to Cast through the notification shade.

Unlike many other available podcasts, Google Podcast is integrated with the increasingly popular artificial intelligence. No surprise there actually, especially if you have been following the trend with Google lately. The company has been going full throttle in terms of integrating its apps with AI.

Podcasters will be able to discover and listen to podcasts from several broadcasters across the world. With Google Podcast, you will be able to subscribe to any show for free and download your favorite episodes for your offline listening. The app is able to automatically synchronize all your listening across devices so you can pause on one device and resume on another with the Google Assistant.

More than ever before, pro podcasters are increasingly likely to want to give Google Podcast a shot. Apparently, the app has matured with more useful features added since its June 2018 launch.

Some of the features available on Google Podcast include:

  • You can customize your listening experience.
  • Subscribe and listen to any podcast of your choice for free.
  • Listen to podcasts at faster playback speeds or skip over silences.
  • Listen to the same podcast on multiple devices without losing your place. Pause on your phone and pick up where you left off on your Google Home.
  • Listen on all your devices.
  • Find podcasts using the Google Search App and the Google Assistant.
  • Discover new podcasts based on your listening history and preferences.
  • Find the latest episodes of your favorite podcasts directly on your phone.
