In the past few weeks, Google Maps released several features. For example, it rolled out to iPhone and Android the apps AR navigation support. But Google is not done yet in fine-tuning its app as it brings a Street View layer to its mobile app.

Street View Layer for Android

For the time being, this new feature is only available for Android users. This feature is one of the best functionalities of Google Maps on the desktop. What it does is that it enables users to visualize the places you are going to for the first time.

You can shift from Street View to regular Maps view on the web version. However, it might not be possible yet on the mobile app.

This new intuitive feature on the mobile app shows streets where Google’s Street View cars ventured. It uses the same bright blue color that you can see on the desktop. It is easy to use it as you just tap where you wish to go and you will see the Street View of the place. You can also type in the address or use its Street View app.

Unfortunately, it is not confirmed yet if this feature is available to every Android user. However, the launch is widespread.

Travel Companion

With the addition of this feature, you can now easily navigate and explore things, making Google Maps a powerful travel companion. After booking your trip, Google Maps will make it easier for you to move once you have touched down. You can easily get around the new place while you relive every moment of your trip once you get home.

Another great thing about Google Maps is that you can use it to get organized for your trip. You can see your flight and hotel reservations without using another app. Indeed, it is a lifesaver when you check-in at the airport or going to your next destination.

The app lets you save your upcoming trips. Then, when you pick your trip, it will pull up your reservations instantly. You can access it offline. Thus, there is no need to worry about your data plan when you travel internationally.

Moving Around with Confidence

Exploring a city on foot can be a great experience. You will get to see the sights and hear the sounds of a new place. However, it is difficult to know where you are going. With the use of Google Maps and its features, you can easily see which way to go and walk.

Street View has been a vital part of how Google Maps identify the places in the world. It shows users where the buildings, addresses, and businesses are in a region.

Plus, it presents important details, like speed limits and business names. This feature launched in 2007. But the features were just limited at the time. Years after, the company car and trekker operations collected over 170 billion images from 87 different countries.

Now, you can enjoy visualizing the places you have never been to.
