Google has a new backup tool designed for both Mac and PC, the company announced on Wednesday. Called Backup and Sync, the new tool will be able to automatically upload all the files and folders you choose on your desktop to Google Drive or Google Photos cloud storage. The choice of where to backup or save your files and folders to is up to you as the company said the new tool works for both services.

“Backup and Sync is an app for Mac and PC that backs up files and photos safely in Google Drive and Google Photos, so they’re no longer trapped on your computer and other devices. Just choose the folders you want to back up, and we’ll take care of the rest,” Google said in a blog post.

The tool works similar way to Photos on mobile—you can choose to either upload your images and videos for free, or store them in the original quality. However, you need to know that storing files in their original quality will count against your storage limit. For those who choose to back up their files on Drive desktop tool, Google said they will also be able to sync Drive files to their desktop as well as access them via their file explorer.

Last March, Google added a new feature to Photos that makes it easier for people to back up their photos no matter the connection. The feature will help you store, organize and share your photos and videos without stress. It doesn’t matter where you are and the type of connection available to you; the new automatic and faster backup feature makes it easier to back up your lovely photos.

The most interesting part of the feature is that; your photos will be backed up when you are in an environment or area where the Wi-Fi connection is good. In an area where the network is poor, your picture will be automatically backed up in a lightweight preview until a strong network is available. This makes it absolutely easy to back up your photos and not lose them because of poor connection.

Recently too, Google Photos added “suggested sharing” and “shared libraries.” Suggested sharing is powered by Google’s AI technology, and will suggest sharing based on your sharing habit. Sharing will also be based on the individuals in the photos, and whether or not they are a part of a special event or occasion. The new feature also gives you the additional option of customizing who you share your photos with, while other Google Photos users can receive reminders to their photos to relevant albums.

Along with suggested sharing came another feature called shared libraries. Shared libraries as the name suggests, is a feature that lets you choose whether you want to share the whole picture or snippets based on specific criteria. Google also gives you the option of sharing pictures based on your preference. You can choose to share pictures from a particular date.
