A new leak from Verizon points to the upcoming availability of global roaming on the Verizon HTC Rezound.
The information comes by way of Droid Life which has posted a display tag on a Verizon HTC Rezound indicating that the global roaming feature for the HTC Rezound will be “Coming Soon”.
If proven accurate, the Rezound, which was launched in November, will work in 185 more countries.
This new development comes after Verizon said in January that the LG Spectrum and Motorola Droid 4 will also have global roaming capabilities.
However, it’s no surprise that the Verizon HTC Rezound could be a global phone since it uses the Qualcomm MSM8660 applications processor which has GSM and CDMA radios built in.
The usual problem with Verizon phones is that they are limited to the U.S. and other countries which have carriers using CDMA frequencies. The GSM standard is much more widely used in other parts of the globe.
Nonetheless, there’s still no specific date when the global roaming feature will be activated on the HTC Rezound.
