There is good news coming for Android users, who are not indifferent to getting things coming their way for free. Judging by the latest report by Dutch company Distimo for 2011, currently the number of free applications available for Google’s Android operating system has exceeded the number for free apps for iPhone.
More precisely, at the moment number of such apps offered by Android Market stand at 134,342 and the number is 121,845 for iPhone at App Store. However, some points must be taken into account: if we also consider the apps for iPad, number of free programs for iOS stands at 132,239.
In addition, Apple pretty strictly checks the applications before placing it on its online store. And we can’t take into account the factors such as the legality of application, the number of apps that have repetitive functions and so on.
Moreover, Apple has a lot more premium apps. Analysts, however, based on the rapid development of Google’s operating system, predict Android Market to be at first place in terms of number of applications within the next five months. And other operating systems like Windows Phone in no way will be able to pose any competition to it.
