Facebook is rolling out more ways to enjoy memories with your friends. “On This Day,” a popular sharing prompt introduced by the social media giant two years ago, has become one of the most widely used features on the network.
People come to Facebook to share different kinds of memories using the platform. Events and occasions that bring fond memories to people are shared using the feature, which Facebook thinks encourage to use the feature more often. To this end, the company is adding two new ways to enjoy memories and celebrate special moments.
Recapping Your Memories:
For the memories feature, the social media behemoth is adding a new experience that packages your recent memories in a more exciting ways that you can share with your friends and loved ones. Facebook is bundling related recent memories into monthly or seasonal memory recap story. Like On This Day, the company said memory recap stories will appear in News Feed and will also be shareable.
Celebrate Your Friendships
A new way to celebrate your friends and loved ones was also added by the company today. “There are two types of moments where you may see these celebratory messages – when you make a notable number of friends on Facebook, and when your friends have liked your posts. We plan to launch more messages like this in the next few months. Additionally, these messages are currently only shown to you, but will become sharable in the near future.”
The company also announced that On This Day feature is now available to everyone on Facebook. ‘
Despite the fact that we all love to recall some memories, especially ones that put smiles on our faces, it is important to note that not all of them make us comfortable and happy. To avoid those memories that bring negative feelings, the company said it has invested in different ways in developing filters to filter content to help you select only those content that are relevant.

More on Facebook, the company’s plan of rolling out a chat device that will help it compete with Amazon Echo and Google Home is hitting a top gear. Report of a chat device being designed by Facebook’s Building 8 division first came to limelight at the start of August with Bloomberg reporting that the social media giant was working on a device.
Business Insider has not only confirmed that report, but has now thrown more light by adding the name of the device. Named ‘Aloha,’ the video chat device has been tested in the homes of some Facebook employees home for a couple of months now. Aloha will have a large touchscreen, a wide-angle camera, speakers, microphones, and will ability to recognize people by their faces. According to Business Insider, the social media giant could launch the device into the market by May 2018, and could cost $499.
