Facebook seems to be busy working on another feature. This time, it caters to those who love to sing. The feature would allow individuals to record their singing voice and sending it for review.

Jane Manchun Wong, a researcher, found a user interface that would certainly enable individuals to pick a song. Then, record themselves while singing it.

If Facebook would release it, it could be a strategy to take on musical.ly. It could include greater than its takin on a lip-syncing function. This feature could be called “Talent Show.” It would enable individuals to contend by singing pop music. The function is, obviously, not yet live.

Wong has a background of discovering features that have yet to be launched or functions that have been in testing mode. She uses reverse design techniques. Wong also uncovered Instagram’s initial time-well-spent function. And the bike program of Lyft that hasn’t been launched yet. Then, she also first saw Instagram’s updated two-factor verification system.

The function could be another way for singers to be discovered by music producers who are scouting for new talents. Wong posted on Twitter that it seems locked to Facebook Pages. Thus it could just be web page managers that could launch a talent program.

This development would provide the social media another method to benefit from its recently obtained music licensing rights. Beginning last year, Facebook started building deals with various record labels. These would include Sony and Warner. It is also reported to be forging a partnership with the indies. The offers imply Facebook will not need to remove videos with copyrighted music as background audio.

However, it is likewise claiming that it intended to take advantage of its rights to establish fresh products related to music.

Let’s presume the code is right. Then, a talent show in this scenario would be seen by many in a different angle. Rather than lip syncing, users could sing and compete. It resembles the recently introduced app called FameGame. As noted by Wong, this feature could be restricted to Pages, much like the site’s new facts game show function. That is, it could be provided to partners that are developing games by themselves and are utilizing the company’s platform.

For many years, the company is aiming at other social apps that collect a following. And after that, it recreates its own variation of the app’s vital draw. It is the same thing it did with Stories. This feature is Snapchat’s most significant differentiator. It’s not a surprise, then, that it is currently taking aim at musical.ly when it comes to lip syncing. The Talent Show function could be Facebook’s way of challenging YouTube’s place, as well, where new singers could be discovered.

Then again, just because it appeared in code, it doesn’t always imply that the company will totally roll this out. However, it’s excellent peek at what Facebook wishes to try out.

What do you think of this feature? Do you think the “Talent Show” could help new singers be discovered by music producers? Will producers use it to scout for new talents?
