Finally, people in the US can have their turn—Facebook Dating will be available from this Friday. This is coming barely one year after the service was first launched in Colombia. Users 18 years and older will be able use the service by tapping a new tab which will appear within Facebook mobile app.

The US launch brings the number of countries where the service can be accessed to 20. These include Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, Vietnam, and the US.

Facebook has announced that Facebook Dating will be integrated with Instagram. What this means is that people will be able to integrate their Instagram posts directly into their Facebook Dating.

“Today, we’re launching Facebook Dating in the US. We’re also giving people the ability to integrate their Instagram posts directly into their Facebook Dating profile and giving people the ability to add Instagram followers to their Secret Crush lists, in addition to Facebook friends. By the end of the year, we’ll make it possible to add Facebook and Instagram Stories to your Dating profile too.”

A couple of months ago, reliable reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong had reported that Facebook was working on the ability to connect your Instagram account with Facebook Dating. With today’s US launch, that has now been confirmed and we can now all look forward to connecting it with our Instagram. Of course, connecting Facebook Dating to Instagram will serve as a major boost towards making helping the later to gain ground.

Users in the US and other 19 countries where the service is now available will among others have access to the following features:

Connect and share Facebook and Instagram Stories— This feature allows you to be authentic in a way that a typical dating profile can’t, and it helps you get to know someone before and after you match.

Opt into Events and Groups to see people with similar interests— You can choose to see other people who are using Facebook Dating that fit your preferences within the groups you are part of and the events you have attended or will be attending. When you choose to see these people, you will also be visible to them.

Feel safe by sharing details of your date People using Facebook Dating can share details of their upcoming date and/or live location with someone they trust via Messenger. They will be able to control if they want to choose this feature. If they do, they are in control of who they share this information with.
