Facebook, without a doubt has the numbers when it comes to blowing competition out of the water; but the social media giant still does not have the edge when it comes to Stories. Stories is the ephemeral format that allows you to post videos and pictures that disappears after 24 hours. To make the feature more popular among people, the social media behemoth is bringing the ephemeral format to Dating.

Dating users will be able to re-share their Instagram or Facebook Stories on the Dating platform. Users will have the opportunity to choose what Stories they want to share from within the dating platform, while also being able to share from within Facebook or Instagram.

The Verge reports that bringing Stories to Facebook is aimed at giving users more insight into their matches while also proving they are real people.

Facebook Dating was launched in the US last September, barely one year after the service was first launched in Colombia. Users 18 years and older will be able use the service by tapping a new tab which will appear within Facebook mobile app.

The US launch brings the number of countries where the service can be accessed to 20. These include Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, Vietnam, and the US.

Facebook announced that Facebook Dating will be integrated with Instagram. What this means is that people will be able to integrate their Instagram posts directly into their Facebook Dating. Earlier in the year, reliable reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong had reported that Facebook was working on the ability to connect your Instagram account with Facebook Dating.

Users in the US and other 19 countries where the service is now available will among others have access to the following features:

Connect and share Facebook and Instagram Stories— This feature allows you to be authentic in a way that a typical dating profile can’t, and it helps you get to know someone before and after you match.

Secret Crush— This feature gives you the option explore a potential relationship within your extended circle. If you choose to use Secret Crush, you can select up to nine of your Facebook friends or Instagram followers who you are interested in.

Opt into Events and Groups to see people with similar interests— You can choose to see other people who are using Facebook Dating that fit your preferences within the groups you are part of and the events you have attended or will be attending. When you choose to see these people, you will also be visible to them.

Feel safe by sharing details of your date People using Facebook Dating can share details of their upcoming date and/or live location with someone they trust via Messenger. They will be able to control if they want to choose this feature. If they do, they are in control of who they share this information with.
