A source who is familiar with the new Facebook service has revealed that the social networking site will launch App Center in a few days. In an interview with BusinessInsider.com, the source even mentioned that the launch could happen today.
One of the App Center’s advantages is that it gives Facebook users the ability to look for applications with ease. It also encourages app developers to create high quality apps because the App Center can feature these apps, giving top developers the capacity to reach millions of users.
A Facebook App Store encourages developers to stay on the social networking site and not go to other places where they can develop apps that don’t connect to Facebook, such as Google+ connected apps or apps for Android or iPhone devices.
It is possible that Facebook will hold the unveiling of this new platform at the press event it will launch called “Apps and Drinks”. These events are being held on a quarterly basis across various cities.
Last May, Facebook already talked about an App Center that will launch in a few weeks. The App Center will contain apps that work only within Facebook and apps connected to Facebook through Android and iPhone devices, among others.
The App Center will help users discover new applications and spread the use of these apps, in a viral promotional tactic used successfully by companies such as Zynga, to which Facebook has readily secured.
