Facebook App Center, Available Only In The U.S. (Image via USA Today)
Facebook has officially launched its new online applications store, App Center. The store brings together applications for mobile devices (iOS and Android) and for web as well, with the main menu divided in two sections.
Submenu of each section offers categories such as games, music, news, sports, utilities, etc. – in total about 600 applications that use Facebook integration, their number following to grow rapidly in the coming weeks. Each application has screenshots and a detailed description.
The user receives from Facebook the personal recommendations based on its activity in the social network. At the bottom of the menu, the user can visualize the current demands of applications of his friends in the contact list. On the home page it’s been included a list of the most popular applications, as well as a list with those that have the best ratings.
Besides a “store” itself, the App Center is also representing an intermediary between the user and Android Google Play, Apple App Store and Windows Marketplace – where he/she can download the entire installation package of the selected application.
Additionally, Facebook has also created a guide for application developers. In order for them to be able to promote their creation, they will have to meet several eligibility criteria and then wait for the OK from Facebook. In the future, they will be able to launch here paid applications too, but for now are allowed to post only free apps.
Facebook App Center is functional now only the U.S., and in few weeks will be available to all Facebook users.
