Alcatel has finally released a new handset in the form of the Blaze Duo, which now is available in the Philippines and Australia.
The Alcatel Blaze Duo is an entry-level Android smartphone that caters to the most budget-conscious consumers who look for an affordable but capable device with dual-SIM and dual-standby functionalities.
The handset comes in two versions, namely the Blaze Duo OT-918N (Philippines) and OT-918D (Australia), with the only difference found in the 3G frequencies.
The OT-918N runs on the 850MHz/2100MHz frequencies for 3G connectivity while the OT-918D version uses 900MHz/2100MHz, with both having quad-band 2G connectivity.
Both versions pack a 3.2-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixels) LCD display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 650MHz processor, 256MB of RAM, a 3MP rear-facing camera, Assisted-GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0.
Interestingly, the Alcatel Blaze Duo inserts two standard SIM cards in a rather peculiar way, with both going into a single slot but one faces up while the other faces down.
The Blaze Duo OT-918N is now available for only 6000 pesos (approximately $140) in the Philippines while the OT-918D costs $179 in Australia.
Alcatel has yet to provide further information on the device’s availability but the Alcatel Blaze Duo could also be available elsewhere.
The single-SIM version of the handset is the OT-918 so be careful with buying the right version for you.
