But, whether you like the new Dropbox or not, it will roll out to everyone today. The shared folders will now be Dropbox Spaces. It will be a hub with your shared files.

The Dropbox Space will have a description to define the space’s purpose. Then, there are to-do lists to manage upcoming tasks. There is also the Dropbox Transfer that will help you transfer large files with others. It does not matter whether or not the recipient has a Dropbox account. When you upload a file, you will receive a shareable link and a notification when a file is downloaded. You can also set a password and when the link will expire.

A Hub for Everything

The company no longer wants to be known as a storage company. As the CEO of Dropbox stated, the way they were working is no longer working. The company is now focusing on becoming a hub for everything.

“We think technology should reduce distractions and take busywork off your plate. That’s why Dropbox is building the world’s first smart workspace—to bring all of your team’s content together while letting you use the tools you love, so you can focus on the work that matters.”

However, if you wish the old version of this app, it is not going away, for now. You will get the new version when you download the new app.

The company also announced several updates for Dropbox Business admins. These updates include the increased visibility into members and activity via enterprise console. Admins can access extended vision history. Then, it is rolling out local data storage to more areas.

BetterCloud for Dropbox

Dropbox announced deep integration with BetterCloud to offer advanced data protection and functionality for all teams. Dropbox customers will enable businesses to have custom security policies. They can also scan content and automate any critical processes.

For this partnership, Dropbox will make a $5M financial investment in BetterCloud to improve the platform and its commercial efforts.

With this partnership, Dropbox users will have a powerful solution to centralize management of their SaaS environments. The integration will boost productivity in the enterprise using the best SaaS applications. To help with the said vision, the two companies are focusing on assisting users in managing the tools that come with this new method of working.

The goal of this new Dropbox is to make other apps working better together. It will be a smart workspace that is more focused on the work environment that will help you stay organized and more focused on the work that truly matters.
