Yes, you’d expect that from the director for Microsoft’s Bing search engine. But Stefan Weitz has some arguments he has laid out to back up his claim that his search engine is better than the global giant of search engines today.
In the latest salvo in the war of the search engines, a high-ranking Microsoft executive said in an interview with the Huffington Post that Bing is superior in some aspects than Google.
According to Weitz, they at Microsoft have “built some of the most beautiful experiences for certain queries, things like events, travel, shopping, that are quite unique to us.”
“We’re the only engine with access to all that great Facebook data so we can bring your friends with you when you search,” he says in the interview.
Another interesting thing that Weitz did in the interview was to accuse that because of Google’s dominance as a search engine, people using the internet to search for things are not challenging the search engines to do more.
According to the Microsoft exec, people have grown accustomed to using “pidgin English when they speak to a search engine.”
“A lot of us have grown up with Google over the last decade and that’s problematic when you want to advance the state of the art,” he said.

I have found that all the major search engines are competitive and produce results according to the pages being optimized. Although there are some features within Bing that are nice for the individual searching, it just has a different formula than Google. the real challenge for an optimizer is to produce the same results no matter what search engine being utilized by the searcher. As usual though Google is more widely used then any other search engine and remains KING of searches for now.
Bing has made great strides and has become much more competitive in the search engine market. I use Bing and Yahoo! almost on a daily basis when analyzing website optimization, but usually as most I access Google more. This may also be because of branding by Google and the fact that they have been at the game much longer than other search engines. The recent change in Google’s algorithm has really caused some commotion in the industry and helped Google believers become more satisfied with the results.
