The XPS 14z sports a 4.4-pound frame with a bezel-free 14-inch HD (1366 x 768 pixels) resolution LED display with a design comparable to that of the 13-inch version.
Dell even managed to force through an optical disk drive on the less than one-inch thick form factor.
The XPS 14z, just like the 15z version, carries Intel Core i5 and Core i7 Sandy Bridge processors, with an optional Nvidia GeForce GT 520M graphics processor and USB 3.0 ports.
The 14z is currently available in China only and comes before the local Golden Week holiday, whereas other global markets will have to wait for further announcements on availability in the coming weeks.
The China launch means Dell has acknowledged the power and mass of the Chinese market.
The XPS 14z laptop model with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 500 GB of HDD, and 1 GB video card will have a price tag of 7,699 yuan ($1211.50 USD).
