Chinese search engine Baidu has decided to enter the mobile market, not only through their services. In the near future, the company plans to develop a mobile operating system that will initially be based on Android. And the first products based on the new platform will be produced by Dell, with which the search engine has entered into a special agreement to jointly produce smartphones and Tablet PCs.
The Chinese market is very much attractive for all modern technology companies. Looking at only the mobile phone market, the country is home to 900 million subscribers. It should also be noted that Baidu in China is an equivalent to Google in the rest of the world, so it won’t have any problem with the promotion of this brand of electronics, it being a very recognizable brand in that country.
Dell representative said that one of the first devices to be produced in cooperation with Baidu will be a mini-tablet Streak 5, which was recently withdrawn from the market. It should also be noted that the Chinese mobile market is already crowded with many heavy weights like Apple and Lenovo besides many others, so the new duo will have to compete with really powerful players in the market.
The Chinese market has always been important to Dell, for example, this summer the company introduced a new tablet Streak 10 Pro in China. Dell and Baidu have not made any official statement about when the first products will be released, but the Chinese press says that it will happen somewhere in November.
