A Chinese man has won the $10,000 iTunes gift card Apple has laid on the line for the individual who will download the 25 billionth app from the Apple App Store, the company revealed on Monday.
In a release, Apple said that Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China has won the promotion from the iPhone maker for downloading a free version of the “Where’s My Water?” app from the Apple App Store.
Apple recently revealed that the Apple App Store has surpassed 25 billion downloads via an announcement it posted on the Apple homepage.
In a statement, Apple’s Eddy Cue said: “We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded.”
“When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users,” the Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services added.
Meanwhile, along with the news that the Apple App Store has surpassed 25 billion app downloads, Apple revealed that there are now “more than 315 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices” in use worldwide.
