For the first time in history, China has exceeded the number of activations in the U.S. of Apple iOS and Android devices, a report notes.
The information comes from Flurry Inc., a firm which specializes in tracking software for mobile devices.
Flurry has revealed that there were more activations of iOS and Android devices in China than in the U.S. for the month of February.
Flurry’s report indicates that 23 percent of all activations of iOS and Android devices in the world came from China for the past month as compared to 22 percent from the U.S.
China surpassing iOS and Android activations in the U.S. marks a milestone for the fast growing mobile industry in China.
For comparison, Chinese activation of iOS and Android devices was only 8 percent of all the activations in the world in January 2011 as compared to 28 percent for the U.S.
The Chinese market for iOS and Android devices is still expected to grow.
