A new scam is spreading on Facebook walls around the world via an enticing invitation to “Check out your Profile stalkers”.

The wall post proclaims “OMG! Its unbelievable now you can get to know who views your profile. I can see my top profile visitors and I am so shocked that my ex is still creeping my profile every hour.”

The scam post instructs Facebook members to copy code contained in a box, then go to the Facebook website, and paste the code into the URL bar, and hit enter.  The convoluted Javascript code then reposts the same wall post “Check out your Profile stalkers” scam on their Friends’ walls.

Facebook now intercepts the program with a message advising that a malicious program was in progress, but assuring the member that no harm has been done.  Users are advised not to use the script.

Facebook described the stalker scam on its blog this week, and advised members to delete it from their wall if they see it, and warn their ‘Friends’.
