There’s a major cultural shift happening in the United States right now. People are starting to become more tolerant of the idea of legalized marijuana, whether it is for medicinal purposes or for recreational purposes. Some people say that legal marijuana was the biggest winner in the 2016 election cycle, as several states added laws to the books legalizing marijuana for various purposes.

Colorado has experienced this boom firsthand – after just a few years of complete legalization the commercial marijuana industry rivals the GDP of several small island nations. The tax revenue being generated has become a windfall that has helped to patch up many budgetary shortfalls.

What’s probably the most rewarding about this legalization is the newfound therapeutic uses for cannabis based products and the miracle cures it is delivering to people afflicted with a wide variety of ailments.

CBD oil is at the forefront of this treatment revolution. We’ve all seen the videos on social media of parents giving their severely epileptic children CBD oil and within minutes their seizures have stopped. In fact, CBD oil has begun to be used in mainstream medicine to treat severe epilepsy when nothing else seems to work for a patient.

CBD oil can be used to treat a wide variety of ailments including PTSD, addiction, anxiety, inflammatory disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, prion disease, acne, diabetes, fibromyalgia, and many many more. There is scientific evidence of CBD oil’s efficacy, and even though there haven’t been major double blind studies done yet there is certainly plenty of anecdotal evidence of its efficacy.

The likely reason that CBD oil is able to treat so many different maladies is that it interacts with the human body’s endocannabinoid system, which regulates things like inflammatory response, body temperature, and other systems. Cannabinoids from CBD oil can bind to serotonin receptors to reduce anxiety and depression. It can bind to TRPV1 receptors to help moderate pain and inflammation. It also can work on multiple bodily processes to inhibit cancer growth and prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

Despite the success that legalized marijuana has been having, the laws are still dubious about even hemp-derived CBD oil. Multiple federal agencies have regulations on the books that either protect or criminalize hemp based products, so there’s no agreement as to the legality of CBD oil in states where marijuana is otherwise illegal.
