BB users living across Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa were cut off from online services for several hours in what would add weight to Research In Motion’s (RIM) woes.
The outage affected millions of BB device owners such that the unfortunate event reached Reuters correspondents from the affected areas quickly, some of which have their own BBs and rely on emails and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for job-related activities.
RIM, however, acknowledged the fault and released a statement to Reuters India that said, “We are working to resolve an issue currently impacting some BlackBerry subscribers in Europe, Middle East and Africa and India.”
Customers have taken to Twitter their grievances on the unexpected outage.
“We are investigating, and we apologize to our customers for any inconvenience caused whilst this is resolved,” RIM added, but declined on disclosing further details.
