Research in Motion seems that eagerly awaits the release of BlackBerry 10 OS to resume its deserved position on the smartphone market.
Expectations are high, especially since their first terminals with this OS have already been confirmed by Qualcomm as their new models which come with Snapdragon S4 Pro quad core processors.
And now we also learn that BB OS 10 could have a huge portfolio of onset applications.
The partnership with developers and the large number of applications are two key issues for new platforms. These are the ones that determine the success or failure of a new OS, especially mobile OS, where applications are so important today.
That’s why RIM promises that BlackBerry 10 OS will be the smartphone OS generation with the largest number of applications to debut, in history. RIM has already begun to organize worldwide Blackberry Jam conferences with developers, since from the first official presentation of BlackBarry 10 OS.
Note that it’s not very hard to reach a record that RIM speaks about, because iOS and Android applications stores were not clearly defined when they were first released and they didn’t had many applications. Windows Phone OS is the only one with a well defined onset application store and we are talking about their first generation of mobile operating system. For example, at the Nokia Lumia 920 debut on Wednesday, Microsoft reminded that they debuted with 7000 applications on the Marketplace in 2010.
Now Microsoft has already reached 100,000 applications and waits a reply from RIM. Since the new Canadian platform will offer mobile emulation support for Android apps, it will be interesting to see how the new software will be numbered.
