Apple unveiled the Apple Watch 3. It’s the first Apple Watch with LTE connectivity. What does it mean to you? You don’t need to be tethered to your phone when you stream music, send or receive texts or make phone calls through your Watch.

Regarding revenue, Tim Cook declared that the Apple Watch is the number one in the world. It beat out Fossil, Omega, and Rolex. The device experienced 50 percent growth every year. Unfortunately, the company failed to share its unit sales numbers.

How much will it cost?

If you wanted the new Apple Watch, you have to shell out $399. That is if you would want an LTE connectivity, If you don’t need it, the watch would only cost $329.

But you can’t order now, just yet. The watch will be available on September 22 and order starts on the 15th of September.

The Series 3 has a dual-core processor, which is 70 percent faster than its predecessors. The W2 chip can deliver 85 percent faster Wi-Fi while being more power efficient. With LTE connectivity, the Watch could last up to 18 hours battery life.

The Watch doesn’t have a conventional antenna. Instead, it uses the display to serve as the antenna. It features small, electronic SIM. The watch’s size is the same as the Series 2, despite the cellular connectivity. However, it comes with an expanded back.

The company also revealed new watch bands from Nike, Hermes, and others.

The Apple Watch 3 isn’t the first smartwatch to have an LTE modem. Gear S3 of Samsung and Watch Urbane of LG have GPS and LTE. However, style or battery life could suffer each time companies put all these parts in one small device.

The Watch to Detect Heart Problems

The company is working with clinicians at Stanford and telemedicine vendor American Well to determine whether the latest Apple Watch can detect abnormal heart rhythms in patients.

If it does, it could be useful for patients with heart conditions, making it a must-have for millions of people suffering from a cardiovascular disease.

Apple confirmed that it’s testing the Watch during the unveiling of the latest version of the Apple Watch.

Although arrhythmias aren’t always problematic, they can carry a risk of strokes and other complications. That said, the device could be a screening tool for those who are at high-risk of this condition. That is if their heart rate monitor shows to be accurate.

Atrial fibrillation is a common heart disorder. If you’re diagnosed to have it, you would need specific treatments.

American Well and other similar companies provide apps for iPhone. These apps allow users to contact a doctor with minutes.

In some studies, researchers are using Apple Watch to screen patients for heart rhythm abnormalities. Cardiogram released its results about its research in May, and one of the researchers stated that Apple could benefit from being able to access raw data through its heart rate sensor.

Tim Cook also hinted in heart health apps during an interview with Fortune. He said that his company is performing measurements of people’s health that individuals ignore. Tim stated that only a few people are wearing heart monitors.

Last month, Apple was reported to working with developers and hospitals to help bring clinical data to its devices.
