Kudos to PayPal; they have been working round the clock to make online payment easier. Fresh from adding payment option within Facebook Messenger, the company has announced that people can now request and send money with the help of Apple Siri.
The iOS update, which has been on the cards for a while, adds the ability to send and request money using Siri. According to PayPal, the new feature is available to customers in 30 countries. Countries listed and supported languages include:
Australia, Austria, Belgium (French and Dutch), Brazil, Canada (English and French), China, Denmark, Finland (Finnish), France, Germany, Hong Kong (Cantonese), India, Israel (Hebrew), Italy, Japan, Malaysia (Malay), Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia (Arabic), Singapore (English), Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (French, German, and Italian), Thailand, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates (Arabic) and United States.
Starting from today, users in those countries can start sending and requesting for money through Siri on their PayPal app.
“Starting November 10, Siri will be integrated with PayPal. For iPhone and iPad users running iOS 10, making a payment has never been easier – PayPal users can now send and request money via a voice command with Siri. Simply say, “Hey Siri, send Bill $50 using PayPal.” Voila! One less thing to check off the to-do list this holiday season,” Meron Colbeci Senior Director of Global Consumer Product Management PayPal said in a statement on Thursday.
How about security, especially when it has to do with a third-party having access to your phone and using Siri? Good thing is, you will first have to confirm your identity before money can be sent or request for payment. According to TNW, this is done using Touch ID and doesn’t really take more than a couple of seconds.

Last month, PayPal announced a new partnership with Facebook to let people send and receive money via the Messenger. The new partnership with Facebook could yet be PayPal’s biggest opportunity to reach billions of people. The new feature allows select users in the U.S [more users and countries could soon follow] to easily link their PayPal and Messenger accounts. Users will also be able to receive payment alerts directly within the Messenger app.
When you shop online, you can easily make your payment with PayPal in addition to other available options, and also receive notification.
“To continue ushering in this new commerce paradigm, today we are announcing an extension of our relationship with Facebook and Messenger, to help make mobile commerce smarter, simpler and more secure for consumers as well as merchants,” PayPal’s Bill Ready, EVP and chief operating officer said.
Version 6.7.0 of the PayPal app is already available for download from iTunes.
