Apple has just given users of its MobileMe service something to celebrate about: a free copy of its OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard operating system.

The giveaway will be available to MobileMe users until June 15 so those of you who are on MobileMe and want a free copy of Snow Leopard, head here at the soonest possible time.

This promotion should give something to cheer up MobileMe subscribers who will have to move to the iCloud service at the end of June.

Apple is shuttering its MobileMe service then as it wants all its customers to move to the iCloud.

We’ve previously talked about how MobileMe is the first victim of iCloud as Apple announce back in June 2011 that it is shutting down MobileMe.

“Your MobileMe subscription will be automatically extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. After that date, MobileMe will no longer be available,” it said then.

Snow Leopard is not Apple’s latest OS, however, as it released OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion in February.

Apparently, the move in giving away Snow Leopard to MobileMe customers is for them to have an easier time moving to iCloud.
