The Apple iPhone leads in the U.S. as a new study reveals it got the biggest chunk in terms of market share as the population in the country use smartphones more and more.
The research comes from Nielsen which has found out that the Apple iPhone leads the pack of smartphones in the U.S.
According to the research firm, the Apple iPhone took a 28.6 percent market share of all smartphones used in the U.S.
The new research comes our way via a report from MSNBC.
Furthermore, it is revealed in the study that 44 percent of all phones used in the country are smartphones.
This figure a big increase compared to results of a similar study two years ago. In 2009, it was learned that only 18 percent of all mobile phones in the U.S. are smartphones.
Nonetheless, 44 percent out of the 44 percent of phones in the U.S. being smartphones are powered by the Google-backed Android mobile operating system.
The new study involved information from 25,000 mobile phone users in the U.S.
Even though the iPhone leads the smartphones race in the U.S., it was learned from the study that BlackBerry comes in second with a market share of 17 percent.
Coming in at a close third is HTC with a 15.8 percent market share followed by Samsung which has a 10.4 percent market share in the smartphones market in the U.S.
