It looks like Google wants to bring the Android One program in the United States according to a report from The Information. If you are not familiar with Android One it is a project for budget smartphones with Google’s Android operating system.
So we expect the first Android One device to land in the U.S. later in 2017. But, what this program offers to users and how better – or worse – is it?

Android One began in 2014 with the simple purpose to provide affordable smartphones especially to developing countries. The project first rolled out in India and later came out in Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
As for the manufacturer of the smartphone there are many suitors but not a final one. But, LG is one of the most strong candidates.

And Android One is the perfect device for Google. It will be affordable and it will the void of the Nexus brand. And some might ask about Pixel, but it is a more high-end smartphone. On the other hand the first batch of Android One smartphones in India were not a huge success. The main problem was that the devices were not are powerful as their competitors. We believe that Google learned for the mistakes of the past and will present a more improved version.

In addition the report revealed that Google will spend time and money for a big ad campaign for the Android One program. If the company believes so much in this project we expect to see something similar with the Pixel ad campaign.

And it is expected that Google will take the opportunity and introduce some of its own products. So, Google Assistant might be one the features we are going to see.

Now, let’s talk about the price. Now, this won’t be a high-end handset. It will be efficient and powerful. Sources claim that the price will range from $200 to $300.

But will Android One become a popular and budget-friendly solution? Will customers buy it? That it is totally unclear. But the fact that Google invests in this program it shows the company’s intention to contribute in the Android technology and bring a low-cost device in the market.
