Americans are most likely to use their smartphone or tablet while they are also watching television, new data from Nielsen reveals.
According to the research firm, 88 percent of tablet owners and 86 percent of smartphone owners in the U.S. said that they used their gadget while glued to the TV once in a period of 30 days.
Furthermore, 45 percent of Americans who own a tablet use their device once a day while they are watching TV and 26 percent said that simultaneous tablet and TV use occurred many times a day.
As for tablets, 41 percent of American smartphone revealed in the Nielsen survey conducted during the fourth quarter of 2011 that they used their smartphones at least once during a day while they were watching TV.
For the U.K., 80 percent of tablet owners and 78 percent of smartphone owners said they used their device once in a 30-day period while watching television.
