Amazon has carried over its cloud-based storage service, Cloud Drive, to the UK to give its British customers a free online repository that provides 5 GB worth of room to store data.
The American company’s offers several storage capacities that depend on the customer’s needed space, which increases with the monthly payment.
The monthly payment scheme is as follows:
- £6 a month for 20 GB
- £16 for 50 GB
- £32 for 100 GB
- £64 for 200 GB
- £160 for 500 GB
- £320 for 1,000 GB (1 TB)
Cloud Drive only requires a username and a password from an Amazon account for a head start.
Frankly, 5 GB of free storage space is an ample amount to use as an easy and immediate backup space or digital library.
Users can avail of Cloud Drive either directly from Amazon’s website or through a desktop app, where the latter has a drag-and-drop feature.
Cloud Drive is now available for download to UK users but requires Flash Player to upload content, which may limit its target audience.
Upload ceiling is set to 2 GB per file.
