Amazon has been pretty busy lately. The online ecommerce giant has just launched a new tool called AR View. AR View lets you visualize online products in your living room by using the camera on your smartphone. The tool offers you the ability to view thousands of products for the home or office in augmented reality, TechCrunch reports. Black Friday is around the corner, and the new tool couldn’t have been launched at a better time than this.
With the AR technology, customers will be able to imagine items not just in a finished room, but in their room. It is a technology that is fast engaging the attention of millions of people all over the world. It will encourage sales, and boost Amazon’s ecommerce business regarded by experts as the biggest in the world.
The AR View is a feature built on Apple’s ARKit software that allows third-party developers to easily add AR functionality to their smartphone apps. Of course, it means the feature is only available iOS 11 users.
The AR View tool was announced along with Amazon’s special offer for the upcoming Black Friday scheduled to begin a couple of days from now; this November to be precise:
“Customers can shop when they want, where they want with the Amazon App, which now includes a brand new augmented reality feature, AR view, for customers to see how thousands of items look in their space before they buy.”
From November 8, Prime members on Amazon will be able to access Amazon Key. Customers will be able to receive their packages securely delivered to them inside their homes.
“Starting on November 8, Prime members will also have access to Amazon Key, the new service that will allow eligible packages to be securely delivered inside their homes without having to be there.”
Last June, Amazon’s quest to become the biggest grocer in the world got off to a good start when it announced the acquisition of Whole Foods Market for $13.7 billion. Already, Amazon is one of the biggest online retailers known for attracting millions of shoppers to its website every month. With this new announcement, the company is set to become the biggest grocers in the world—and is expected to rake in billions of dollars in revenue annually.
Whole Foods Market is renowned for offering the best organic and natural foods in the world—and merging its business with another world-known ecommerce giant only means more good news for consumers. Ranked 28th in the world, Whole Foods Market has carved a niche for itself in terms of supplying natural and organic foods to shoppers, and will now become a part of a major force in online retail business.
Under the arrangement, Whole Foods Market according to Amazon, will continue to operate the Whole Foods Market brand and source from trusted vendors and partners around the world. The retail giant also announced that John Mackey will remain as CEO of Whole Foods Market, while its headquarters will remain in Austin, Texas.
