Only hours after launching GameCircle for its Kindle Fire tablet, Amazon set into motion its Game Connect service.
The world’s largest online retailer launched its new games service to provide customers with a novel array of free-to-play and massively multiplayer online (MMO) games on its online games store. It also gives game developers the ability to carry out “simple and secure” in-app purchases, which allows gamers to buy premium items or other apps within a game.
Game Connect links customers’ game accounts to their respective Amazon accounts, which allows subscriptions and virtual goods to transfer directly to the game without the need to copy/paste codes. This method trims down the buying process for customers, and offers game developers a simpler and quicker way to sell more virtual goods.
“Customers can now discover a new category of free-to-play games and can experience the convenience of having virtual items purchased with their Amazon account delivered directly to their game accounts,” explained Mike Frazzini, director at Amazon Games.
“Game Connect helps game developers reach more customers, move more quickly and grow their business by simplifying the purchase process for customers. This is an exciting next step for the Digital Games Store and we have even more to come,” Frazzini added.
