A 40-hour-straight Diablo III gaming binge has proven deadly for a Taiwanese teenager.
According to the Australian Associated Press, the teen – who was only identified as Chuang – died after playing the popular Diablo III game for a full week’s worth of work without even eating.
At around noon on July 13, Chuang reportedly reserved a private gaming room at a café in Tainan, Taiwan to play Diablo III.
Chuang then proceeded to play for nearly two days straight foregoing meals and rest.
When the teen stopped on the morning of July 15, an attendant from the café apparently entered Chuang’s private room and found him dozing on the table.
“After the attendant woke him, he stood, took a few steps and then collapsed, the report said. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital,” the AAP says.
According to the report, the Diablo III fanatic is already undergoing autopsy and it is the opinion of the police that “long hours in a sedentary position created cardiovascular problems for Chuang.”
This same speculation has been heard of in the past as a Brit dad has also blamed deep vein thrombosis as the cause of his son’s death after playing video games on the Xbox gaming console.
Diablo III is a role-playing game developed by Blizzard Entertainment.
