Since the early days of social media marketing, brands have been trying to find the best times to publish content. They have three goals: to boost engagement, to expand reach and to add conversions.
Sad to say, there’s no universal best times for all brands to achieve this on all social networks.
Depending on your target audience, industry, products, content, consistency, and many other factors, your best times to post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn will differ.
But knowing the times with the highest overall engagement can point you to the right direction. It helps you reconsider your strategy to test and determine your ideal times.
Thankfully, Sprout Social has updated their list of the best times to post for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Sprout gathered more than 25,000 customer interactions to generate a report of standard breakdowns with detailed analyses.
Sprout’s report shows that Facebook posts from 11am to 1pm on Wednesdays have the most engagement.
Thursdays and Fridays also have high Facebook interaction. But morning posts have the higher engagement rates on Fridays.
Sprout’s data show that Sundays have the least overall Facebook engagement.
Take note of the shift in focus on Facebook from Wednesday to Saturday, and compare it to the engagement rates on Monday mornings.
This is not rigid, however, as each brand have different best times to post. But if you want a good starting point to experiment, Wednesday is a nice day to kick off.
Sprout’s data shows that Wednesdays are also popular for Instagram. Fridays from 10am to 11am are also lively.
It seems the mid-morning hours have bulk of Instagram engagement. More people go active on social a little later in the morning, rather than check in during morning commutes or after business hours.
The trend on Twitter is a bit different. Wednesdays and Fridays still see the best results, but it starts at around 9am, rather than mid-morning.
Sprout says Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days to tweet. Saturdays see the least Twitter engagement. Tweets starting 10pm drop engagement.
LinkedIn has seen a substantial increase in engagement lately. And Sprout’s data reflects that.
Sprout’s data shows the best day to post on LinkedIn is also Wednesday. The best times are between 9am and 10am, and 12pm. While Wednesday is the best day, Sunday is the worst day to look for LinkedIn engagement.
For Tuesdays to Fridays mornings, from 9am to 11am are the best times to post on LinkedIn. Wednesday and Thursday from 12pm to 4pm also have high engagement.
The best times to post are not one-size-fits-all. But Sprout’s report offer good pointers on when you can start publishing content, and adjust moving forward.
